Donald Brewer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones-Harkins Funeral Home - Wilburton on May 28, 2025.
Donald Orlander Brewer, 72, of Red Oak, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 in Red Oak, Oklahoma.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted in Jones-Harkins Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025 at The First Baptist Church in Red Oak. Rev. Johnny Montgomery will be officiating.

Don was born on April 28, 1953 in Farmington, New Mexico to O.D. "Buck" Brewer and Seirvillh (Taylor) Brewer.

Don's educational journey led him to Southeastern University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Education. His passion for knowledge and his desire to inspire others guided him into a fulfilling career as a teacher. For 14 years, Don dedicated himself to educating young minds, instilling in his students a love for learning.

Before and after his tenure in education, Don worked in the oil fields as a mud engineer. His expertise and hard work were well-recognized in the industry, and he took pride in the contributions he made to the field. The duality of his professional life, split between the structured world of education and the demanding oil fields, demonstrated Don's versatility and his ability to adapt to different challenges.

On April 1, 1971, Don married his beloved wife, Leslie, in Sherman, Texas. Their marriage was a partnership built on mutual respect, laughter, and an unbreakable bond that stood the test of time. Together, they navigated life's ups and downs, always finding strength in each other's company.

Don's personal interests were as rich and varied as his professional life. He was an avid collector of antiques. His collection was a testament to his appreciation for the stories embedded in each piece. Additionally, Don found great joy in flipping through the pages of National Geographic magazines, where he could embark on visual journeys to distant lands and learn about the diverse cultures that make up our world.

Don is survived by his son, Steven Brewer and wife, Lori of Red Oak; daughter, Sarah Lungstrum and husband, T.J. of Fulton, Missouri; grandchildren, Brandon Brewer and wife, Charli of Oklahoma City, Kaleb Brewer and partner, Grayson Courtright of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Autumn Lungstrum, and Meadow Lungstrum both of Fulton, Missouri; great-granddaughters, Lilly Brewer and Penelope "Poppy" Brewer; a brother, Clyde Brewer of Red Oak; a special friend, Jacqueline Pryon of Ozark, Arkansas; along with numerous other family members and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his wife, Leslie Brewer; parents, O.D. "Buck" Brewer and Seirvillh Brewer; brothers, Paul Brewer and Jack Brewer; a sister, Louise Brewer.
