Donald Wayne Brown, born on March 2, 1963, in Dunedin, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at his residence. He leaves behind a legacy characterized by dedication, family commitment, and a passion for sports and community service.
Donald devoted 27 years of his career to the Florida State Hospital, where he spent the majority of that time serving as the Warehouse Manager. His work exemplified a strong work ethic and a commitment to his responsibilities, earning him respect among his colleagues and peers.
A proud graduate of Grand Ridge High School, Donald furthered his education at Chipola College, where he not only honed his academic skills but also showcased his athletic talent by playing basketball. His love for sports extended beyond personal participation, as he also coached basketball, and served as an umpire for both baseball and softball. Alongside these pursuits, he was a big fan of Alabama football.
In his personal life, Donald was deeply devoted to his family, with his favorite pastime being the quality moments spent with his beloved grandchildren. He found joy in fishing and other outdoor activities, reflecting his appreciation for nature.
Donald is survived by his mother, Betty Marilyn Villarreal; two brothers, Jerry Brown (Tonya) and Jeffrey Villarreal (Jamie); one sister, Kimberly Holloway (Lucas); two children, Matthew Watkins (Holly) and Lance Watson; and three grandchildren, Reagan Watkins, Gavin Watkins, and Landen Watson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Earl Brown; stepfather, Leslie Villarreal, paternal grandparents, G.B. and Alma Brown; step-grandparents, Narciso and Mary Villarreal; and maternal grandparents, Horace and Naomi Bennett.
The funeral service for Donald Wayne Brown will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Cypress Grove Assembly of God in Grand Ridge, Florida with Rev. Gary Gable officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Grove Assembly of God Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 13, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
