Donald Bustos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rogers Mortuary - Las Vegas on May 29, 2024.
A sensitive soul has left us with heavy and broken hearts. Donald Paul Bustos was born January 21, 1962 to Pete and Eloisa Bustos in Las Vegas, NM. Don graduated from Robertson High School in 1980 and then went on to earn his Associate Degree in Engineering Technology from New Mexico Highlands University. He joined the Air National Guard and was active for several years.
Donald found his way into the hospitality and hotel industry and made this his lifelong career, which he loved. It brought a smile to his heart when they would call him "Mr. Bustos". This past year, his job took him from coast to coast and Mexico.
In 1988, he suffered a life altering car accident, which he miraculously survived. That he was able to get up and face each day since then is a testimony of his will to continue to live to his best ability. He resided in Houston, Texas for 20 years and passed away there on May 8, 2024 following a brief hospitalization.
He is survived by his brother, Ralph Bustos (Priscilla) and their daughters Natasha Martinez and Alicia Martinez Romero (Nick) and their families; and his sister Ruth Bustos Lopez (Maurice). He had a special connection with his nephew and niece, David and Bella (Antonio) Lopez.
His best friend from middle school, Brian Maas, was unconditionally supportive and encouraging throughout his life. Don was good about staying in contact with cousins, Phyllis Martinez, Randy Bustos, AB/Anita Montoya, and Patricia/Danny Martinez. He was active in several groups and had a tight brotherhood bond with Bobby, Max, Lewis, Chuck, and Andy.
His presence in our lives has challenged us to be the best version of ourselves despite adversity. May you forever rest in peace and harmony, Don.
In lieu of flowers, Don's family has asked that you offer an act of kindness to a neighbor, friend, or stranger in memory of Don.
A rosary will be recited on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rogers Mortuary, Las Vegas, NM. A celebration of life will take place at a later date in Albuquerque, NM, where he will find his final resting place at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum with his parents.
Arrangements are entrusted to and under the care of Rogers Mortuary, 600 Reynolds Ave, Las Vegas, NM 87701, 505-425-3511 or 1-800-479-3511.
