Donald Eugene Byrd

High Point – Donald Eugene Byrd, 83, formerly of Florida, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at Westchester Manor.

Born October 5, 1942, in Guilford County, Donald was the son of the late John Thomas and Doris Hyacinth Allred Byrd. He lived in Jacksonville and Edgewater, Florida most of his adult life before returning to High Point four years ago. In Florida, Donald worked as an executive for Jacksonville Warehouse, a food distribution company. Following his retirement, he had his own Antique Furniture Business, a hobby he'd enjoyed all his life. Donald was also active in Dog Show, often as a judge or a contestant. He loved spending time with his family and having them and friends down to visit him and his partner, Wayne, in Florida.

Surviving Donald are his sister, Jeanie Wilson, of High Point; his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Brenda Byrd, of High Point; and several nieces. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Shoemake, brother, Timothy Byrd, and his longtime partner, Wayne Lawrence.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
