Mr. Donald Earl Byrd

Mr. Donald Earl Byrd, who was 70 years old, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama. He was originally from Perdido, Alabama, but had spent the last thirty years living in Rose Hill. His life touched many people, and he will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.

He was a dedicated and hardworking man, known for his skills as a mechanic, specializing in automotive and small engines. His passion for fixing things was matched only by his love for watching westerns and traveling across the United States. Family time meant everything to him; he was very caring and always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Whether it was repairing a vehicle or simply spending time with loved ones, he poured his heart into everything he did.

Preceded in death by his parents Eubie and Iris Stanton Byrd; wife, Joyce Byrd; brother, Ray Byrd; daughter, Christy Maddaloni.

He is survived by his sons, Shane (Cindy) Thornton of Kemah, Texas and Shawn (Samantha) Byrd of Rose Hill, Alabama; daughters, Daneice (David) Hamric of Leesburg, Georgia, Hope Byrd of Leesburg, Georgia and Grace Byrd of Leesburg, Georgia; sister, Linda (Paul) Carter of Atmore, Alabama; multiple grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC.
