IN LOVING MEMORY
Donald Jack Caldwell
Dec 20 1934 - Oct 20 2025 Oct 20 2025
Jack Caldwell passed away after a short illness at the age of 90 on October 20, 2025 in Dallas, Texas. Jack was a man of devotion - devoted to his family, devoted to God, devoted to his church, and devoted to his principles.
He was born on December 20, 1934 in
Farmersville, Texas to John and Maybelle (Denton) Caldwell. A graduate of Farmersville High School, Class of 53, Jack received a scholarship and spent a short time playing Junior College baseball. A self-proclaimed lover of all sports, Jack confessed the reason he went to school was to play sports. He felt the need to begin a career so he left school to start the next chapter. Jack married (fellow Farmersville native) Laveda Jean Jackson on March 16, 1957, in
Farmersville, Texas. They settled in Garland, Texas. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Jack began his career at Summers Electric in 1957 and retired over 40 years later.
He liked to tell the story of how his starting salary was .95 cents an hour, and within six months, he was running the whole store. Jack was proud of his career and his achievements of managing several branches as well as opening branches outside of Garland. Not one for retirement, Jack began working part time at Firewheel Golf Course in Garland and worked there for over 20 years.
Jack and Jean enjoyed traveling together. They loved ski trips with friends and family, summer car trips to the mountains of Tennessee, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. Weekly trips to Choctaw and Winstar casinos were always on their agenda. Jack's favorite trip was a cruise to Alaska. Fishing, hunting, golf, skiing, and watching sports of all kinds were Jack's hobbies. In particular, he enjoyed high school and college football and every sport his grandsons played. After Jean passed in 2019, Jack became a voracious reader. His favorites were western fiction, spy thrillers, mysteries, and anything by John Grisham.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Prescott (Dan), and Kelly Caldwell; as well as his grandsons, Alex (Jess), Ethan, and Jordan (Inbar); great grandchildren, Jake, Maddie, and Noa, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laveda Jean, parents, John and Maybelle, two sisters and four brothers.
Jack loved his Rodgers Baptist Church family where he was a loyal member for many years.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Thursday October 30, 2025, 1:30pm at Rodgers Baptist Church in Garland, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Rodgers Baptist Church, 801 W.
