Antonito- Donald "Grumpy" Cisneros
Donald "Grumpy" Cisneros, born on April 12, 1943, in the serene town of Mogote, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, in
La Jara, Colorado. Known for his warm smile and generous spirit, Donald lived a life marked by devotion to his family, a commitment to his community, and a love for the natural world.
Donald's journey through life was shared with his loving wife Jerri, to whom he was married for 59 joyous years after a beautiful wedding ceremony in Denver, officiated by his father, David Cisneros, on June 6, 1964. Together, they built a family that includes their son, Donald Edward Cisneros of Denver, and daughter, Gina Denise Cisneros, also of Denver. Donald's role as a grandfather to Nichole Vang, Kiersten Hadley, and Kalen Cisneros filled him with immense pride and joy. His legacy continued to blossom with the birth of his great-grandchildren, Chloe, Brooklyn, Jonah, Rylee, Willow, and Natayo. He was the cherished brother to Marcia, Alice, Carla, David John, Becky, Douglas, and Cathy. Donald was greeted in the afterlife by his late parents, David and Zobeida Cisneros, as well as his brother David Lee Cisneros, and Grand daughter Elexis Cisneros.
Professionally, Donald dedicated over three decades to IBM, where he played a pivotal role in the field of information technology. His work not only showcased his intelligence and diligence but also his innate ability to connect with colleagues and foster a supportive environment. Beyond the office, Donald's heart belonged to the community of the valley he called home. His influence reached far and wide, touching the lives of many through his active participation in various organizations.
A man of faith and fellowship, Donald found solace and strength in daily devotionals with family and friends. His love for music and art was eclipsed only by his passion for the great outdoors. As a member of the Conejos County Sheriff's Posse, he embodied the spirit of service, whether assisting at the food bank, contributing to the United Way, or supporting CASA. His dedication to teaching hunter safety courses was driven by a desire to ensure the well-being of others and the preservation of nature's beauty.
Donald's commitment to his church as an elder spanned many years, during which time his voice enriched the choir, and his presence uplifted the congregation. His love for singing was a testament to his belief in the power of music to bring people together and to celebrate the divine.
Described by those who knew him as loving, selfless, and passionate, Donald's impact on the world was as profound as it was endearing. He was a beacon of light for his family, an example of kindness to his friends, and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of crossing his path. Donald's life was a tapestry of love, service, and unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.
As we bid farewell to Donald "Grumpy" Cisneros, we remember a man whose laughter could light up a room, whose guidance was sought by many, and whose love knew no bounds. His memory will be cherished and his legacy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. Donald's journey through life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the unassailable strength of the human spirit. He will be deeply missed, but his light will continue to shine in the hearts of those he touched.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence. He is like a tree planted along the riverbank, with its roots reaching deep into the water – a tree not bothered by the heat, nor the worried by long months of drought. Its leaves stay green and it goes right on producing all its luscious fruit. Jeremiah 17: 7-8
