Zelda "Nevie" Malouff

Zelda Geneva Malouff, lovingly known as "Nevie," was born on September 10, 1922, to Jerome and Maggie Franklin in La Jara, Colorado. She passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 103.

Nevie married Neff David Malouff on September 9, 1938. Together they raised three daughters: Ellen Louise "Weezie", Elizabeth Colette, and Mary Magdalena. Nevie was a devoted homemaker for many years. After the passing of her husband in 1971, she began working as a cook for the North Conejos School District in La Jara, Colorado. She later worked for the Valley Courier in Alamosa, Colorado, distributing newspapers to carriers throughout the San Luis Valley.

Nevie enjoyed playing Bingo, visiting casinos, and watching her favorite team, the Denver Broncos.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neff David Malouff; her daughters, Ellen Louise "Weezie" and her husband, Andres Gonzales, Elizabeth Colette and first husband, Louie Martinez, and second husband, Buster Mylan; granddaughters, Theresa Marie and Shirley June; six brothers and sisters; all of her in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish Nevie's memory are her daughter, Mary and husband Darrel; grandchildren, Darrel Neff DePriest, Melissa Martinez, and David Martinez; many great-grandchildren, including Emily Johnson, who held a special place in her heart and lovingly knew her as "Granny"; many great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Butch Mylan; and her favorite niece, Margaret Muniz.

Nevie was an amazing wife, mother, sister, and Granny. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Graveside Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Capulin Cemetery.
