Donald James Cook passed away on Friday December 8th 2023, at Epic Nursing Home in White Plains, at the age of 95. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Cook, in 2021.
Donald was born in White Plains on November 15th, 1928 to the Late Albert and Frances Cook. He graduated from White Plains High School in the Highlands and graduated in 1947. Later in life, he attended Westchester Community College for 2 years. Donald was also a corporal in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hokkaido, Japan.
He worked for the New York Telephone Company for over 40 years, and later on in management in NYC. He retired in 1990. Donald loved to fly and build remote control planes that he flew with members of an RC plane club in Croton. He owned a beautiful Farmhouse in Great Cacapon, West Virginia from 1982 until 2006, he and Nancy spent many great times there. An inground pool was put in several years later. He also loved to vacation in Eastham, Cape Cod Massachusetts at a cottage on a private Lake for many years. Donald is survived by his children, daughters Elizabeth (Betsy) Perkins, and her husband Doug in Pt. Pleasant, NJ. Daughter, Polly Nadeau, of Tampa Florida., and a son Peter Cook and his wife Joanne, of Poughkeepsie NY. Donald is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Donald was predeceased by 2 sisters and 1 brother, Alice Cherico, Marion Llyod and Richard Cook, and also by 1 grandson, Jeffrey Cook.
Visitation will be held on Saturday January 6th, 2024 from 2 to 4pm at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home at 2 Maple Avenue, in White Plains NY.
