Donald Floyd Cornett passed from this world on October 14, 2025 at the age of 89. Burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, October 18, at Bangs Cemetery.
Donald was born April 10, 1936 in Coleman County, Texas to the parents Floyd Elmer Cornett and Mable Irene Griffin Cornett. He was the oldest of 11 children; he had 7 brothers and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his brothers Vernon Lee, Wallace Woodrow, Larry Dale, Freddy Ray, Edwin Neal, and David Allen; also 2 of his sisters Neva Ann Cornett Brown, and Marilyn Kay Cornett McCutcheon. He is survived by one brother, Douglas Gene Cornett of Blanket, Texas and Laura Cornett Yager of Graham, Texas. Also, 10 nieces and 7 nephews, several great nieces and nephews. He has 3 living cousins, Lanell Griffin Fajkus of Temple, Texas and Carl Lynn Squyres of Winters, Texas, Danny Smith and wife Mary of Kleberg, Texas, and several second and third cousins.
He was a Baptist in his religion and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He spent several years of his life working overseas. He was stationed in Bad Kissingen, West Germany while serving in the Army and he also worked in the oil fields of Yemen and Saudi Arabia. He enjoyed watching western movies on tv but most of all he liked being outside sitting on his big deck with a large glass of iced tea.
He lived most of his life in and around Brownwood and in Rising Star, Texas.
