Donald Ray Cunningham, 89, of North Little Rock met his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 22, 2025. He was born to the late Sam and Ellie Russell Cunningham on April 27, 1935 in Big Creek, AR.
He served in the United States Navy and retired from the Air Force. He then worked for the Veterans Hospital as the medical research coordinator. He made many life long friends during this time.
Don was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock, AR. He loved to serve the Lord and church family. He loved his mission trips and remembered the ones he went on fondly.
Don was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dianne and a loving father to all his children. Don was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his wife. He had a quick wit and could make you smile no matter how bad you felt. He loved deeply and greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ellie Cunningham, in laws James and Geraldine Crowder. Sisters Maxine Downing, and Mary Ross and brothers in law James Crowder, Jr. Bobby Williams and Kenneth Cash.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 35 years, Dianne Cunningham; daughters Carol Harper (Mike) of Stuart, FL, Sherrie Bogy (Tony) of Cabot, AR, Brenda Hildebrandt (Danny Hall), Butlerville, AR, step-daughters Kim Ballard (Steve) of Little Rock and Karen Ford (Terry) of North Little Rock, AR. Sisters Emogene Nutt, Burdean Cave (Bill), Pauline Cash, and Elizabeth Williams. Eight grandchildren, David Harper (Alison), Dan Harper (Kathryn), Kristi Maynard (Jarod) Stephanie Roper (Clint), Ryne Pomtree (Amber), Grant Ford (Meridith), Chase Ballard (Markie) and Laine Burroughs (Trey). He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the funeral at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will begin at noon at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers include: Terry Thompson, Joel Crowder, Tony Bogy, Danny Hall, Terry Ford, Steve Ballard and Mike Harper.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church Annie Armstrong Easter Offering or Gideon Bibles.
