It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald James Griffin, affectionately known as Don and/or "D. J", who left us too soon on February 5, 2025, at the age of 23. Born on August 22, 2001, in Indianapolis Indiana, D.J. embodied a spirit full of life and enthusiasm that touched everyone around him.
Growing up in Indianapolis, D.J. was cherished by his family and friends for his infectious laughter and boundless energy. He enjoyed boxing and beyond the ring, D.J. had a passion for working on his beloved Subaru Outback, often engaging in spirited conversations about cars with anyone who shared his interest.
D.J. is survived by his loving family, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. His devoted mother, Christy Johnson, and father, Michael Griffin, provided unwavering support throughout his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Zachary (Kristen) Mills and Michael Griffin Jr., alongside his sister, Jasmin Griffin. The bond of brotherhood and sisterhood they shared will be eternally treasured.
His grandparents, Brenda and Bill Duety and Mabel Griffin, were proud of D.J. and showered him with love and wisdom, while his relationships with his many aunts, uncles, and cousins enriched his life with both laughter and love. D.J.’s role as an uncle to Christian and Daymon, as well as his nieces Oaklynn, Lakelynn, and Raelynn, brought a sparkle to his eyes and joy to his heart.
D.J. joins his late grandfather, James Griffin, in eternal peace. Their connection remains a beautiful thread in the fabric of his family’s love story.
The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation on February 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, held at Flanner Buchanan - Speedway, located at 2950 N High School Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224.
In celebrating D.J.’s life, we remember the laughter, the joy, and the many moments of love he brought into our lives. Though his time with us was far too brief, the impact of his spirit will resonate in our hearts forever.
