Donald Dewitz Obituary
July 31, 1943 - June 22, 2025
Donald M. Dewitz, age 81, of Eau Claire, passed away with his family by his side at home on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Don was born on July 31, 1943 in Eau Claire to the late Marvin and Doris Dewitz. He grew up on the family farm.
He was an independent truck driver most of his life and worked for Roberts – Arbor (Ruan) and Mike DeGrasse (TMB).
Donnie was a very kind man like his dad. He often said that he would drive to the end of the earth, but never fly. He loved his treats and sweets – mostly the ones by Jennie.
Donnie enjoyed snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and camping with family at Bonner Lake. Most of all, he loved his girls! Wife, daughters and the special granddaughters. He was their G-PA. He knew Chad would take care of his girls.
Surviving him are his wife, Jennie; daughters: DeDe Dewitz and Kelly (Chad) Amussen; grandchildren: Kendyl and Reese Asmussen; brother Bill (Julie) Dewitz; and sister Pat (Ted) Biegel; brothers-in-law Steven Landis, Ken (Krista) Landis and Wils Lund; sisters-in-law Kate Moss, Carol Sumner and Paula (Gary) Heuer; and special family friend Bobbi Paulsrud. He is further survived by many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sisters Arlie Lund and Linda (Lynn) Gesche, mother and father-in-law Ed and Phyllis Landis, brothers-in-law John Moss and Tom Sumner and sister-in-law Kathy Landis.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Linda and Karrie from Mayo Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 pm. At 1:30 the reading of the obituary will take place. Burial will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.cremationsociety-wi.com.
