Donald Dobbs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home on Mar. 6, 2026.
Donald Franklin Dobbs, 63, of McPheeter's Bend, rode his horse to a cabin in glory land on March 2nd, 2026.

Franklin was a father, brother, a son, and a grandpappy who loved and adored his grandson Atlee, his girls Karley and Kendra (the two best boys he ever had) and especially his Momma (Barbara) with all his heart.

Franklin was born on May 21st, 1962, to Donald and Barbara Dobbs of Church Hill Tennessee. He was a devoted Christian and strong in his faith in the Lord. He worked at Holliston Mills matching color for years. He was in the army, he loved animals, especially horses, he was a fantastic cook, he loved to fish, he loved to sing, and he loved his family fiercely. In the days since his passing, the stories that have been told are those of goodness, fun and love that showcase his big heart of gold. Franklin had a way about him, he could talk to anybody, and he loved doing so. His personality was as big as his heart. Making people laugh was something that truly made him happy and he'd never met a stranger. He truly loved doing things for others. He would have given you the shirt off his back and all the candy from his pockets.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Donald; his aunt, Kathy; as well as several horses that he loved.

Franklin is survived by his wonderful Mother, Barbara; his two daughters, Karley (Zack) and Kendra (Bradshaw); his pride and joy, his grandson, Atlee; three sisters, Donna, Glenda (Dewey), and Kay (Russ); nephews, Mikey, Chad, and Dylan; his niece, Whitney; great niece, Lauren; and his great nephews, Maddox, Landon and Spencer.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hawkins County Humane Society or Faith N Friends Horse Rescue, Dad loved animals with all his heart.

To the entire family,
I was so surprised to hear of Franklin's passing. I just learned about it today when I happened to read of his mother's passing.
I had known Franklin for years and considered him a friend.
He was truly a 'chatacter' and I know how much he loved his family.
My sincere condolences to all,
Alex Potts
