Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services - Mountain HomeDonald "Don" W. Decker, a proud U.S. Navy veteran and loving family man, peacefully passed away on November 18, 2025, in Gassville, Arkansas, at the age of 82. He was born March 25, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Clarence and Evelyn Richie Decker. Don was a lifelong and avid Green Bay Packers fan, known for his quick wit, playful teasing, and lifelong devotion to those he loved, including his many pets.
During his six years in the U.S. Navy, Don served aboard the USS Independence CVAZ in the Guantanamo Bay Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Don returned to civilian life and pursued a successful career in graphic arts for nearly two decades, forging many lasting friendships. He later retired from Kard Recycling, where he was considered part of the family.
In 1976, Don married the love of his life, Virgie "Candy" Spivey, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They shared nearly 50 years of partnership, traveling together and enjoying life's simple pleasures. The couple moved from Milwaukee to Gassville in 2009, where they embraced their new community. Don was an active member of the Mountain Home Elks Club and a beloved member of the Twin Lakes Baptist Church. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing pool, singing karaoke, and listening to country music. He was a fan of technology and always kept up with the latest gadgets.
Don's memory will be cherished by his wife, Candy; daughter, Kathy Nondorf and her husband, Roger, and their family, Jamie Garvoille (Gavin and Drea), and Jeffrey Nondorf and his wife, Amanda (Corbin and Carlee); grandchild, Noah (Dakotah, Noah Jr., and Adam); granddaughter, Tina (Ashley); grandson, Josh; and sister, Diane Ellermeier. He also leaves behind his in-laws, Vera Mae Carroll, Libby and Juan Corominas, and Kitty Spivey; as well as, loving nieces, Tammy Ahmad and Terri Gifford; great-nieces; nephews; great-nephews; cousins; extended family members; and special friends, Eric Christensen, Bob Rozumalski, and Jeff Colson.
Don joins in eternal rest, his parents; son, John Decker; daughter, Dawn Gollakner; infant granddaughter Ashley; in-laws John Ellermeier (who Don considered more like a brother) Jerry Spivey, and Ollie Carroll.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Twin Lakes Baptist Church, with Dr. Sam Bailey officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and Alley-White American Legion Post #52 Honor Guards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Twin Lakes Baptist Church.
