Donald “Don” P. Schewe, 78, town of Stettin, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 at his home.
Born July 19, 1947 in Wausau to the late Arthur and Grace (Hoppe) Schewe, Don built a life rooted in family, service, and a deep love for the outdoors. On August 1, 1970, he married Marlene W. Kordus at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Wausau, beginning a partnership that would span 55 years. She survives him.
Don graduated from UW Stout in 1972 and worked for many years as a pressman for Graphic Packaging in Wausau until his retirement at age 65. His commitment to service began early, and as a teen, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He then went on to serve his country with pride in the United States Army. He remained active in veteran affairs as a member of the American Legion Post No. 10 in Wausau.
Don's love for adventure and the great outdoors defined much of his life. Over the years, he enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, and kayaking, and he was a passionate gardener. Among his favorite pursuits were camping and canoeing in the Boundary Waters and his yearly fishing trips to Canada. A gifted artist, Don's talent also shone through in his woodworking and carvings, where each project reflected his unique craftsmanship.
Survivors include, his wife, Marlene; three children, Michelle (Patrick) Dinkins, Bison, SD, Elise (Jeff) Batzer, Pulaski, WI and Paula Schewe, Brooklyn, WI; three grandchildren, Cassidy Dinkins, Stella Dinkins, and Blake Batzer; and two brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Schewe and James (Mary) Schewe, and other extended family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son.
