Donald Ray Edwards, affectionately known as Bro. D, departed this earth on February 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and wisdom. Born on November 15, 1950, in the vibrant city of
Miami, FL, Bro. Dee grew up to touch the lives of many with his kind-hearted spirit and unwavering dedication to his calling.
Bro. D was a beloved husband to Sandy Edwards, a cherished father to Rhonda Cisco (Jeff) and Kristin Faulkner (Tre'), and a proud grandfather to Kayla Allen (Noah), Jessica Cisco (Robbie Wright, fiancé), Hannah Faulkner, Elizabeth Faulkner, James Faulkner, and Sarah Faulkner. The joy of his life was further multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandson, Henry Scott Allen. He was a brother who shared an unbreakable bond with Curtis Edwards, Roy Edwards, and Janelle Matheson. Bro. Dee was preceded in death by his parents, William S. and Beryl Lewis Edwards, who laid the foundation for his remarkable journey.
Bro. D's educational path led him to become a beacon of guidance and inspiration, not only in his professional life as a high school coach in various sports but also through his spiritual leadership. He served as a pastor or associate pastor at several churches, including First Baptist Milan, Blue Springs Baptist, Holly Creek Baptist, Birds Creek Baptist, Hogan Baptist, and culminated his pastoral journey at Bradford Cumberland Presbyterian Church. His unwavering commitment to his faith was evident in his favorite scripture, 1 Peter 5:7: "casting all your cares on Him, for He cares for you."
Those fortunate enough to have known Bro. D would describe him as wise beyond his years, faith-filled to his core, and loving without condition. His life was a testament to the power of belief and the strength found in community and fellowship. He was a man who lived out the words of Helen Keller: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart."
As we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Bro. D, his legacy will be commemorated in a funeral service on Saturday, February 14, at 11 AM at Bodkin Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Friday evening from 4 - 7 PM at the funeral home.
Bro. D's life was a journey of purpose, fueled by a passion for sharing the love of the Lord and guiding others to find solace in their faith. His impact cannot be measured in words or deeds alone, but in the countless hearts he touched and the lives he transformed through his compassionate presence
