Donald "Donnie" Ekstrom, Jr.
SANTA FE – Mr. Donald "Donnie" Ekstrom, Jr. passed away at the age of 64 on October 19, 2024, in Texas City.
Donnie was born on January 2, 1960 in Galveston County. After graduating high school, he went to work at DSM-Firmenich where he eventually became the maintenance planner. He dedicated 30 years to the company and created many lasting friendships there. He met Waltraud "Wallie", and they were married in 1996. He was a wonderful husband who loved his family. Donnie and Wallie enjoyed fishing together but when it came to cooking, that was all Donnie. He was a long-standing member of the John Mitchell Lodge # 1401 AF&AM, attaining a Master Mason position. He dedicated himself to the Shriners Lodge and eventually the Scottish Rites so that he could continue his education in Freemasonry. He will be greatly missed by his Mason community, friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Norma Ekstrom, Sr.; son, Donald Ekstrom, III.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 28 years, Waltraud "Walli" Ekstrom; stepsons, Eric Munie, Eddie Munie, Fred Scheunemann; brothers, Chris Ekstrom and wife, DeAnn, Teddy Ekstrom; sister, Grace Ann Lee; grandchildren, Rylie Ekstrom and fiancé, Haylee, Brady Ekstrom, Tobie Ekstrom, Erika Scheunemann, Chloe Schuenemann; fur babies, Girlie, Jr., MiMi and Stuby; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Mr. Dennis Jolly officiating. Interment will be at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will Kevin, Dustin, Brady, Paul, Rylie and Chris.
