PAXTON - Donald Lewis Frichtl, age 91, of Paxton, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at Country Healthcare and Rehab in Gifford.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1931, in Tolono, the son of Adam and Eileen (Keller) Frichtl. Donald married Lola Giseburt on April 16, 1955. She preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 1959. He married Ruby Irene Blackford on Nov. 4, 1961. She preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 2021.
He is survived by four sons, Don (Patti) Frichtl, Mike (Kim) Frichtl, Greg Frichtl, and Brian (Ursula) Frichtl; one daughter, Kim (Jim) Diskin; three brothers, Myron (Roseanna) Frichtl, Edward Frichtl, and Darrel (Mindy) Frichtl; one sister, Mary (Terry) Lewis; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his late wives, Lola and Ruby, Donald was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Jim Thilmony; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Johanna Giseburt; and two grandchildren, Zach Harms and Kaleigh Frichtl.
Donald was a member at St. Mary Catholic Church in Paxton. He was on the Ford County Soil and Water Committee and was the Township Supervisor for Button Township for many years.
Donald was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed watching Fighting Illini basketball and working in his yard. Most of all, Donald enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Proud of his service to our country, Donald was a veteran of the United States Army, and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Cox-Knapp Funeral Home in Paxton. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery in Paxton.
