Donald Wayne "Donnie" Frye, 59, of Rockville, IN, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025. Donnie was born on Monday, July 25th, 1966, in
Martinsville, Indiana, to Melvin Eugene Frye and Eda Mae (Perry). He was the youngest of five children and proudly known as his "mommy's baby boy". He is the father of two sons, Dustin and Austin, and the grandfather of six.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Donnie found his greatest joy in nature-fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, and enjoying anything that involved the great outdoors. He was also a devoted Indianapolis Colts fan, faithfully cheering for his team through both winning and losing seasons.
Throughout his life, Donnie was known for his fearless approach to living and his endless love for those closest to him. He loved his family deeply, often reminding everyone that "At the end of the day, we are blood." He lived every day as if it might be his last.
He spent his entire working career in construction, most of it installing fencing-a trade that earned him the nickname "Donu," which stuck with him for life. He worked tirelessly for many years before his health diminished and forced him into early retirement.
Donnie is survived by a host of loving family and dear friends with whom he has made a lifetime of cherished memories including his mother, Eda Mae Rogers of Gosport, IN; brothers, Randy Frye of Indianapolis, IN, Robert "Bob" Frye of Mooresville, IN, and Ronald "Ronnie" Frye of Gosport, IN; sister, Melva Jo (husband, Gary) Coss of Mooresville, IN; many nieces and nephews; his forever fishing buddy, Carl Rogers; and his lifetime best friend, his 'ride or die', Danny Puckett.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Frye; grandparents, Ray "Buck" and Martha Pauline Frye and Lloyd and Katherine Perry.
A celebration of Donnie's life will be held at Neal & Summers Funeral Home in Martinsville on Monday, October 20th, 2025, beginning with visitation at 5:00 PM and a funeral service immediately following the visitation at 7:00 PM. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025, following an 11:00 AM graveside service in Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
