Don Gadow Obituary

Donald E. (Don) Gadow, Sr. passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Don was born July 19, 1939 in Maryland to Leonard and Laura Katherine Gadow. He was employed in the furniture industry for many years working as an engineer at Futorian and a purchasing agent for Action. He worked in Financials and Securities for PriAmerica, a coordinator for MS Furniture Market and the Electric Department for the City of Okolona.

Shortly after high school, Don joined the United States Coast Guard and served his country. He soon married the love of his life, Glynda and together they raised their two children, Donnie and Gayle. Don was a devoted husband, father and papaw. He had been told by many in recent years that he had been an amazing role model while working with the youth at Okolona Christian Church along with coaching girls softball.

Don was a member of Common Ground Christian Church and served as an Elder and Trustee of the church for many years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, along with professional and college football. Don was avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and most of all being outside on his tractor bush-hogging, spreading dirt and working for the public. His joking personality, calm demeanor, and positive teaching skills was something that drew those of all ages to him. Don never met a stranger and along with Glynda, loved to square dance.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 PM Friday, October 18, 2024,, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dale Hood officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 Friday. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glynda Gadow of Amory; one daughter, Gayle George (Larry) of Amory; one brother, Wayne Gadow (Sandy) of Amory; one sister, Bonnie Lee Wooters of Amory; two grandchildren, Allison Harris-McDonald (Steve) of Amory and Cody Harris (Rachel) of Nettleton; three great-grandchildren, Dawson Beasley, Henry Harris and Elliot Harris; several beloved nieces and nephews that he thought of as his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donnie Gadow; two sisters, Helen Stone and Joan Glime and one brother, Leonard Gadow.

Pallbearers will be Cody Harris, Dawson Beasley, Jimmy Rappe, Andrew Aldridge, Steve McDonald and Steven Phillips. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin George, Dr. Francisco Sierra and Anthony Rea.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to CenterWell Home Health and Gentiva Hospice for their outstanding care and love shown to them.
