Donald Eugene Gallagher

Donald Eugene Gallagher, 89, of Madisonville, Texas, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Temple, Texas. He was born on March 30, 1936, to Albert and Goldie (McBride) Gallagher in Washington, Kentucky. Donald had a passion for fishing and spending time on the water, particularly with his pontoon boat on the lake. He also had a soft spot for cars, trucks, and the thrilling world of NASCAR racing. His stubbornness was matched only by the love he showed for his family, especially the children, who adored their caring grandfather.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wilma Jean Meyer; brother, Johnnie Gallagher; daughter, Nita Kelly; grandson, Joel Don Kelly; and granddaughter, Ashley Sueann Lowery. He is survived by his wife, Bertie Gallagher; children, Rita Lowery (Randy), Bo Mitchell (Stephanie), Mark Gallagher, Mike Gallagher (Kelly), Tami Gallagher, and Donnie Gallagher (Amy); twenty grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; brother, James Jimmy Gallagher; and sisters, Phyllis Fryman, Wanda Johnson, and Connie Sue Teegarden.

A graveside service for Donald will be at 3 P.M., Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Wealthy Cemetery, Normangee, Texas. Bro. Mike Cousins will officiate the service.
