Donald, 72, passed away February 13, 2026, with his wife by his side. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vicky Gill, and daughter Tonia (Dan) Drasher, son Darick (Lou) Gill, grandchildren Ireigh, Anna and Gabriel, his brothers Jim Wininger, Doug Gill and Kevin Gill.
Donald was a Puyallup Police Officer Sergeant and a former member of the Special Investigations Unit. He started his career as a Military Police Officer for the US Army in 1975, was honorably discharged in 1978 as a Military Police Investigator, was hired as a Police Officer for the Sumner Police Department 1979 and moved to Puyallup Police in 1989. He retired on May 31, 2012. One of Don’s significant achievements is the creation of Wheelbeat, bicycle patrol cops. He is also the 7th certified IPMBA (International Police on Mountain Bike Association) nationally, and a proud veteran of 38 triathlons, including two Ironman events. Don and his wife have remodeled four homes and in their spare time traveled all over the San Juan Islands.
