Frances M. Gill
Frances (Kolenda) Gill of Stamford, CT, died peacefully, at 99 years and 5 months, on March 2, 2026. Born on October 16, 1926, in Stamford, CT, where she remained until her death.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward M. Gill; adored granddaughter, Rebecca (Becky) Howard-Pon; and treasured brothers, Anthony, Chester and Walter (Babe). Frances is survived by her three loving daughters and their families, Michele Gill of Stamford, CT, who was also her best friend and caregiver, Kathy Howard (Martin), of Poughkeepsie, NY and Donna Gill Lisitano (Sebastian) of Berlin, CT. She loved her grandchildren, Andrew Howard (Gina) of Long Island City, NY, Lauren Lisitano Austin (Dan) of Boston, MA, Michael Lisitano (Daria) of South Portland, ME and Daren Pon of Yorktown Heights, NY; and great-granddaughter, Rebecca (Becca) Howard of Long Island City, NY.
Frances attended Holy Name of Jesus school and graduated from Stamford High School. She loved being with her family, going to Mass and attending the Holy Name of Jesus Church "Seniors" lunches, where, many times, she was actually the most senior. She enjoyed the simple things in life – watching the birds, feeding the squirrels, her yard and flower garden, soup for lunch, word searches, reading the Stamford Advocate, traveling/shopping with Michele and a restaurant meal when it included salmon. Frances will be remembered as a friendly, kind and compassionate individual.
Her family would like to thank those who assisted in keeping her happy and comfortable especially the wonderful team at Home Matters Caregiving led by Asha Scher.
A Mass in her honor will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 325 Washington Blvd., Stamford, CT, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10:30am, followed by her burial. There will be no calling hours.
