Donald J. Gusick

Donald Gusick, 97 of Pound, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at home. He was born July 28, 1927, in Pound to August and Helen (Heisel) Gusick.
Donald served two years in the Armed Service. After his discharge, he worked various jobs before getting married to the former Lorraine Tachick on September 30, 1950. They operated a dairy farm for a few years before owning a mink ranch. In 1967, Donald and Lorraine opened the Ace Hardware Store in Pound, and built a new store facility in 1989. Donald worked alongside Lorraine in operating the store until retirement. He was a deacon and lifelong member of Section Eight Baptist Church, where he enjoyed greeting everyone on Sunday mornings and singing in the church choir. For a number of years, Donald was a board member of Lake Lundgren Bible Camp.
Donald loved fishing and hunting, and the time spent at his son Mitch's fishing and hunting resort in Canada. In summer, he loved gardening and always looked forward to picking blueberries and blackberries. Donald and Lorraine traveled frequently, making trips to Mexico, where they both caught a sailfish, and also made several vacation trips to Alaska.
Donald is survived by two sons, Mitch (Sharon) Gusick and Jeff Gusick, both of Pound; along with a brother, Gerry also of Pound. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; his parents, August and Helen Gusick; and brothers, George and Alan (Buddy).
Friends may call at Section Eight Baptist Church in Pound on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 9:30 until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Kevin Holland will officiate. Burial will be in First Baptist Cemetery in Pound. Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
