Donald George Hellmann, 92 years of age, passed away peacefully Saturday at Madonna Manor Care Center with his loving family by his side. Don (aka “Lumber King”) was owner of Hellmann Lumber in Covington. The business and city were near and dear to him. He was a US Navy Korean War Veteran and proud to serve his country. He was the loving husband of Dolores Hellmann (nee Cahill). Loving father of Barbara Weckenbrock (Mark), Susan O’Donnell (Patrick), Lynn Becker (Robert), Sharon Wessels (Carlo) and Jacqueline Schuler (Joseph). Loving grandpa of sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Dear brother of Joan Goessling (the late Richard), Jeanne Kaiser, Mary Ann Wainscott (Butch), Kathy Redden (Patrick). Don was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Marian Hellmann, and his siblings, Judy Reinersman (the late Robert), Sister Mary Andrew OSB, and David Hellmann. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Blessed Sacrament Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. The family has asked for memorial donations to : DCCH , 71 Orphanage Rd. Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017 and The Point/ Arc of Northern Kentucky 104 W. Pike Street, Covington, KY 41011 instead of Flowers.
