Donald was born July 1, 1934 the eldest son of Otto and Elsie Delong Hyden of East Point, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Carol Greer Hyden and one sister, Amma Hyden Vaughan.
He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Lynette Thompson of Nippa, Kentucky; two loving granddaughters, Melinda (Rodney) Blevins of Meally, Kentucky and Haylie Thompson of Nippa, Kentucky; two bonus granddaughters, Monica (Caleb) Ruble of Frankfort, Kentucky and Amber Blair of Nippa, Kentucky; two brothers, Frank (Yvonne) Hyden of Walland, Tennessee and Otto (Kathy) Hyden, Jr. of Hager Hill, Kentucky; two sisters, Alta (Jerry) Rayl of Ada, Ohio and Reba (Gary) Combs of Maryville, Tennessee; very dear brother-in-law and lifelong friend, Jack Vaughan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he held very close to his heart.
Donald was a member of the East Point Church of Christ for over 45 years, serving God and his brothers and sisters in Christ as an elder and in many other capacities. He enjoyed sharing the gospel alongside his wife, Billie Carol, as they visited homes, hospitals, and nursing homes, bringing the light of the Lord to those experiencing darkness. He demonstrated the generosity and goodwill of his Savior by sharing his blessings with those in need.
Donald helped to bring electricity for the first time into several areas of Appalachia when he worked for Harris Brothers Construction Company as a lineman and crew foreman. Later, he helped to maintain the beauty of Jenny Wiley State Park.
Donald enjoyed creating through woodworking, learning through researching his family genealogy, and solving electrical problems.
He was a wise, fair, and loved member of his community and he will be missed tremendously by those who knew him.
