Donald Michael Janus, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in Manteno, Illinois.

Don is survived by his children: Johnny (Therese) Janus, Donna (Kurt) Janus-Moss, Jimmy (Karen) Janus and Jennifer Yeager; his cherished grandchildren Jake and Connie Janus, Lindsay and Matthew Janus, Jacqueline and Josephine Yeager, and great grandson Emmitt Vincenzo Bochette.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Janus, his parents Michael and Lottie Janus, and sister Joyce Ann (Bud) Flynn.

Don was born in Hammond, IN and grew up Calumet City, IL. He was a graduate of Thornton Fractional High School and was a member of the swim team. He served his country by joining the Navy during the Korean War and was a radar man on the USS Donner.

Don and Mary Ann married in 1958 and raised their family in Calumet City. They ultimately moved to Schererville, Indiana and resided there for 30 years.

Don was employed by Blaw Knox for over 30 years as a Metallurgist Technician. He was a founding member of the Calumet City Cavaliers and a long time member of the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and thrilled to see them win a World Series.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Jesus, Shepherd of Souls Parish (St. Andrew the Apostle Church): 768 Lincoln Ave., Calumet City, Illinois. Visitation for Don will precede the mass at 9:00 AM in the church vestibule. He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois.
