Donald Kenly Obituary

Donald F. Kenly, 85, of Rosendale, NY and Stuart, FL, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital in Stuart FL. He was born on June 26, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Frank and Lona (Brovit) Kenly.

Don owned and operated many businesses over the years, where he worked closely with his two eldest sons, Donald Jr and Jody. Among these businesses were Kenly Concrete and Kenly Materials Group. He was a true entrepreneur, characterized by his hard work, determination, creativity and willingness to take a risk.

He enjoyed spending time both in New York and Florida, having a great number of friends in both locations. While in Florida, Don spent his free time sculpting, a passion that he developed later in life, visiting with friends and baking pies to share with anyone who was blessed to receive one. In New York, Don was always up to something, whether it was climbing up on the roof to fix it, driving around to artists’ studios or renovating the gallery and apartments.

He decided to use one of the spaces that he had to open an art gallery, Olive Branch Studio and Gallery, in 2022, so that he could share his love of the fine arts with the people around him. Don was thrilled to bring together local artists to exhibit and celebrate their work. He spent countless hours planning and curating shows with his daughter-in-law, Maryanne.

Above all, he loved to spend time with his family, whether they were near or far. Gathering together for Sunday dinner, talking on Monday nights with his beloved daughter, Nancy, picking pumpkins with his great-grandson, Johnny, or just sharing stories and giving his favorite type of advice to his children and grandchildren, nothing made him smile more and experience such joy as the pride he had for his family.

Don came to be loved by a second family when he met his Carol. They shared many years and many adventures together in New York, Florida and at the shore in LBI, NJ. Carol and her entire family were very special to Don.

Don is survived by his children and their spouses, Donald Jr and Carol Kenly, Nancy and Jeff Miltenberger, Jody and Maryanne Kenly, Thom and Pauline Kenly, his grandchildren, Donald III, Sherman, Melanie, Matthew, Ceejay, Lynndee, Tim, Logan, Shawn, Nia and Zoe, his great-grandson Johnny, his sister, Peggy DeRoberts as well as many nieces. nephews, and other dear family, friends and former wife, Alice Kenly-Fentiman. In addition to his parents, Don is predeceased by his brother, Robert Kenly and love, Carol Dunn.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Sunday November 23, 2025 from 1pm to 4pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Monday November 24, 2025 at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Rosendale, NY.
