Sharon Sue Kenly, 77, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2025.
She was born on May 6, 1948, in Greenfield, Ohio, to Glen and Jean Rhonemus. Sharon married the love of her life, Rod Kenly, on October 1, 1977, in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Sharon spent over 40 years living and working in Ridgecrest, California for the Department of the Navy. She and her husband Rod raised their son Jeremy in the community, and where she graduated from Cerro Coso Community College.
She had a long and accomplished career with the Department of the Navy, retiring after 24 years as an electronics technician. Her work included building, handling, and loading weapons; this was an impressive and rare path that spoke to her capability and dedication.
In 2019, Sharon and Rod retired to Kerrville, Texas. No matter where Sharon lived, she was always active and community minded. She was involved with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Kerrville. While in California, she volunteered at Ridgecrest Hospital.
She also supported while in Kerrville, the Hill Country Thrift Store in Ingram, and Calvary Temple Church.
Sharon was known for her colorful, flashy style and her signature touch of glitter in her hair each day. Her infectious laugh could light up a room, and she had a humor that made others feel at ease. She and Rod enjoyed traveling the country together in their RV, embracing life on the road.
A talented quilter and seamstress, Sharon made over 200 lap quilts, generously donating them to her church. But above all, she cherished her role as a mother to her son, Jeremy, and found joy in having his friends over and always making their home a warm, welcoming place.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Linda; and her brother, Dennis.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rod Kenly of Kerrville; her son, Jeremy R. Kenly and his partner, Danielle, of Page, Arizona; her grandchildren, Damion Chase Kenly and Felicity Kenly; and her brother, Dan Rhonemus.
As per Sharon's wishes, no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peterson Hospice, whose care and support the family deeply appreciates.
