Donald King Obituary

Donald ("D.A.") Arthur King 1 April 1952 - 5 March 2025.

D.A. King left this life and his work for the nation that he loved confident that he has done his best. Survived by his best friend, love of his life and undeserved gift-from-heaven wife of 42 years, Sue Lanier King AKA "Angel Girl", D.A. passed on peacefully after a private battle with cancer.

D.A. was the son of Frank William "Bill" King and Margaret Jeannine Powley, originally of Detroit, Michigan.

"Once a Marine, always a Marine" - D.A. was always visibly proud of his service and his honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps (1970-1976). While he attended school in a variety of locales growing up, when asked "where are you from?" he was quick to happily reply "Madison Heights!" in reference to his home during his high school years. D.A. was in the class of 1969 at Lamphere High School in that metro Detroit suburb.

Known as a "yardsman," with his sidewalk garden and resulting homegrown tomatoes and peppers, D.A. produced bumper crops every year for the 40 years he and Sue lived in the only house they ever owned. There were always two much-loved cats in the yard. He took great pride in that expansive, tree-filled yard and the leaf-shaded back deck where they relaxed and entertained at what he cheerfully referred to as "El Rancho King" in Marietta.

D.A. described himself as "pro-enforcement" on immigration and borders, an issue on which he dedicated the last 21 years of his life as an expert activist, writer and public speaker.

In lieu of flowers, D.A. requested donations to the National Border Patrol Council Local 2544, Tucson, Arizona or the U.S. Marines Heritage Foundation in his memory.

My condolences for you Sue, I just read about Don's passing, my heart is so sad.
I will always have fond memories of the weekends on Lake Allatoona and of course the party room! Don was always so kind and made sure his friends were well taken care of. Please come to Nashville at anytime. So many prayers for you.

Sue, family, and friends, my deepest condolences to you for your loss of D.A. I just learned of D.A.´s passing via a recent NumbersUSA alert that honored him, mentioning his passing. I´m sorry I never met him in person, but knew him the past 20 years from his amazing advocacy on behalf of Dustin, Billy and Kathy Inman, The Dustin Inman Society, and working towards tougher GA legislation for illegal immigration. He was a tireless immigration activist; I always respected his passion and leadership for effecting policy changes in GA. Rest in peace D.A. God bless you Sue.

Dear Sue, I´m so saddened to hear about Daks passing. I remember when he first started with his activism. He had written an article that I responded to. He asked me a lot of questions in how to get started. He suprised me at his determination and steadfast will to right the wrongs of illegal immigratiin. He was a patriot warrior of the first degree. I know how much you both sacrificed for our country. I just wanted to tell you that I care deeply and Thankyou both for a hell of a job! May you find comfort in untold amounts of patriots that are aware of your loss and what DAK did for our country. God bless you Sue. We have lost a champion !

Condolences, Sue, and to the King family and friends. I'm fortunate to have spent time with D.A. at a conference a few years ago. He was a powerful presence who commanded attention, both for how he spoke and what he had to say. He will be missed and remembered.

It was a great honor to have met Don and Sue, He showed such strength and courage while battling cancer, even though I knew he was in pain he would smile and ask me how I was doing. I have had many patients, but Don touched my spirit. I will always remember my tough marine. The love he had for Sue could not be denied. "Heroes never die. They live on forever in the hearts and minds of those who would follow in their footsteps." Rest in Peace

I met Mr. King at a gathering many years ago in front of Lenox Shopping Center. About 10 of us showed up to take a stand against illegal immigration. The sincerity of his commitment and his gentlemanly demeanor were evident to all who met him. RIP Mr. King, you made a difference.

D.A. King was someone who really loved the United States of America and honored its founding principles. His advocacy for strong enforcement and enhancement of our immigration laws was absolutely stellar. He was a tireless and very effective advocate. Condolences to his family and loved ones. He will be missed, but those who understood the importance of his accomplishments are thankful for his hard work on behalf of the rule of law and the principles of a free society.
