Donald E. Kohls

February 4, 1940 - January 28, 2025

Donald Edwin Kohls, 84 of Hazleton, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at the Oelwein Health Care Center. Donald was born February 4, 1940 to Richard and Irene (Grimes) Kohls in West Union, Iowa. He graduated from Valley High School in Elgin, Iowa with the class of 1958.

Donald lived and farmed near Brainard, Iowa until moving to Hazleton, Iowa in 2002. He enjoyed collecting Farmall Tractors and going on tractor rides. He also enjoyed riding his 3-wheel bike and splitting firewood. Donald was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Elgin, Iowa.

Surviving Donald are his sister, Ruth Ann Hayzlett, of Hazleton, Iowa; nephews: Darin (Angie) Hayzlett and Jerry (Jen) Hayzlett; niece, Katie (Dan) Trimble; great-nephew, Christopher (Amanda) Hayzlett and their children: Gracelyn and Riley; and great-nieces, Nicole Hayzlett, Lily Hayzlett and Adalyn Hayzlett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Irene Kohls; and a brother-in-law, Tom Hayzlett.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., with a Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., on Monday, February 3, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Oelwein, Iowa, with Pastor Dave Byrd as the officiant.

Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in West Union, Iowa.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Elgin, Iowa is assisting the family with services.
