Donald R. Larson, age 90, of Arlington, SD passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 22, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington with Pastor Alyssa Mitchell officiating. Pianist will be Dee Josephsen, soloist will be Rodney Josephsen.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday from September 21, 2025, at Crawford-Osthus/Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel in Arlington, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Military graveside honors will be provided by Edgar L. Herrick Post #42 American Legion of Arlington. Burial will be in the Arlington City Cemetery following the service.

Donald was born February 3, 1935, in Sioux Falls, to Leonard and Agnes (Schjodt) Larson.

Donald attended and graduated from Arlington High School. He was a Trumpet player in the school band, he also played basketball and was on the football team. Donald was with the United States Army and National Guard honorably serving a total of 28 years retiring as a CWO 2, in March of 1982.

He married Marlys Josephsen on July 18, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington. Donald and Marlys were blessed with four children, Stephine, Kim, Phil, and Candice.

Don and Marlys operated a dry cleaning and laundry business from 1962 to 1976. Donald was a very busy man, he was a Boy Scout Master for many years, worked for the Arlington School System as a bus driver, worked at the school as a custodian, worked at the Arlington Creamer. Don worked as a Cable TV Technician for 20 years for Satellite Cable Services. Don was a lifelong member of the Arlington, was on the ambulance, was a member of the city council, was on many community organizations. Don was confirmed and baptized member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 79 years. Don was a proud member of the American Legion Post #42. Don went on the Honor Flight Mission #16 on September 26, 2023.

Grateful for sharing his life, Stephanie Baker, Kim (Tom) Steilen, Phil (Becky) Larson, and Candice Geick, his ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, siblings, Larry (June) Larson, Vern (Jan) Larson, Joel and (Eileen) Larson, Julie Larson.

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife Marlys in 2020, parent's, grandchild Lyric Grace, brother Bob Larson.

In lieu of flowers memorial has been established to the Trinty Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
