Donald Phillip Medeiros

Donald Phillip Medeiros, known affectionately as Don, passed away on May 6, 2025, at the age of 86, at Care Dimensions Hospice House, Lincoln, MA. Born on July 30, 1938, in New Bedford, MA, he was the son of the late Phillip and Lillian (Yates) Medeiros. He was the brother of the late Linden Medeiros, Phyllis Alyce Ramos and Debra Da Silva. Aside from a brief residence in California the majority of his life was lived in the New Bedford area and his later years in Fall River.
Don was a man of many talents and interests. In his professional life, he began working as a mason alongside his brother Lindy and later transitioned into various roles including a painter for the fleet of trucks at My Bread Baking Co (Sunbeam Bread) in New Bedford and a parts clerk, at Almeidas Auto Supply in South Dartmouth. He spent his later years as a cherished flower arranger at the Potting Bench in New Bedford. His work there, particularly in arranging flowers for holidays, weddings, and funerals, was admired by many for its meticulousness and beauty.
Outside of work, Don led a life filled with simple pleasures. He loved dancing with his partner, Delores Nutbrown, and spent many hours fishing off the dock or venturing into the deep sea in search of blues and sea bass with his son and friends. An avid fan of old Western movies, Don also enjoyed trips to the casino with his sister Phyllis and her husband Danny and friends. His regular card games and sports watching sessions with friends at
the local Tavern were a source of great pleasure and camaraderie.
Don is survived by his partner, Delores Nutbrown; his sister, Patricia Medeiros; his children, David Medeiros of Natick and stepdaughter Cindy Nutbrown and her son Brandon of Fall River; along with several nieces and nephews, Darlene Monteiro and her husband Kenneth Hammond of Acushnet, Dennis Monteiro and his wife Susan of New Bedford, Christina "Tina" Monteiro, and Peter Monteiro of New Bedford.
A quiet observer of life, he will be fondly remembered for his gentle strength and spirit, his love for the outdoors, and the joy he brought to his family and friends.
