Donald Meiners Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Main St. on Dec. 28, 2025.
Donald Karl Meiners, 89, passed away on December 27, 2025. He was born on December 11, 1936, in Covington, KY, the son of Bernard and Mildred Meiners.
Don graduated from Covington Catholic High School and served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958. Following this time, he began a long career as an GM certified automotive technician, working diligently at such prominent central Kentucky dealerships as L.R. Cooke Chevrolet, Capitol Cadillac, and Glenn Buick. A man of many interests, Don took great joy in several hobbies and pastimes, including: motorcycles, Corvettes, boating, riflery, and dog ownership. He was also an avid fan of UK basketball. He will be remembered as a kind and caring father and a generous friend to many.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Judy Abbott Meiners, sisters Mary Costello and Margie Steiner, daughter Melisa Meiners, son Eric Meiners (Kristen), stepson Doug Abbott (Rod Eggleston), stepdaughter-in-law Leanne Abbott, and step grandsons Garrett Abbott and Jackson Abbott-Eggleston. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond Meiners, and stepson Jeff Abbott. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Tanya Harris and Andre Maxberry, devoted caregivers who provided compassionate care and comfort during Don's final weeks.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Pax Christi Catholic Church, followed immediately by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.

Don was a good friend and coworker of mine. He taught me lots about the car business and a lot about life. He was the most dedicated person I ever met. He gave 100 percent every day. He came to work sick, several times over the years, and he would say, I had might as well be here and sick as in the bed. Don was a generous man, I saw him help out many people over the years. Don was one of the best technicians I ever knew. He could repair anything that went wrong with a car from front to back. He would come in early and stay late to work on someone“s car for free if he thought they were struggling. We had so many good times together, laughing and making lite of tough times. Don had lots of one liners that kept the whole shop in stitches. He made work fun for all of . His absence here will create a large void in the life of all of us. I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven. Tony Witt
