Donald Mizell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crain Funeral Home, Inc. - Franklinton on Jan. 5, 2026.
DONALD MIZELL, AGE 85

And a resident of the Oak Grove Community passed away Tuesday December 30, 2025 surrounded by his loving family, while at his son's home in Texas, where he was visiting for the holidays. He was retired after a 42 year career working at the Gaylord/Temple-Inland paper mill in Bogalusa. In retirement, Donald served as a deputy with the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office for several years. He also served his community as Constable of Ward 6 for 38 years. Donald loved visiting the Great Smoky Mountains and Cade's Cove and liked watching his favorite wood-working TV shows. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and attended many bluegrass festivals, both locally and while on vacation in Tennessee. Donald was a longtime active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and he always loved meeting his friends and neighbors at the store next to his home, to tell stories, some true, some not, and catch up on current events. He will be forever missed by his family and those that knew him well.
