Donald K. Nevinger, 97, of Troy, IL, formerly of Collinsville, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Charter Senior Living in Troy. He was born on February 5, 1928, in Donnellson, IL, to the late Harry and Alice (nee Craig) Nevinger.

A proud graduate of Collinsville High School in 1946, Don went on to marry his beloved Jane Pistrui on December 28, 1948. Together, they shared a remarkable 72 years of marriage before her passing. Don dedicated 45 years of his life to working as an auto mechanic, having worked for both Al Tognarelli Service Station and BBB Motors.

Don also served his country honorably in the United States Army. In addition to his work and military service, he enjoyed a fulfilling life with many passions, including ham radio, golfing, and traveling with Jane. His heart was big, and he gave back to his community, volunteering for St. Vincent DePaul and Meals on Wheels.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane; his son, Donald Craig Nevinger; and his two sisters, Kate Ossola and Ruth Spaniel.

He is survived by his five children: Karen (Dan) Keeley of Prescott, AZ, Michael (Pamela) Nevinger of Venice, FL, Kim (Kevin) Kingsbury of Maryville, IL, Barbara (Steve) Klingler of Collinsville, IL, and Beth (Andy) Limmer of Troy, IL. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, September 22, 2025, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 207 Vandalia, Collinsville, IL. The Funeral Mass will follow at noon, with Father Michael Haag officiating. Military honors will immediately follow the mass at the church. Burial will take place in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Collinsville.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or Hospice of Southern Illinois. They may be received during the visitation or mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
