When having summers off from grad school, working the night shift at Hamm´s brewery, Don would stop by for a midnight horseshoe game by car headlights at brother, Mel´s, home. The neighbors must have slept through it, they didn´t call the cops. Don was the youngest brother, so the story goes, he was sat down into a little red wagon, and pushed down a hill so his big brothers could practice their calf-roping, much to Don´s chagrin.

My condolences to Mr Olson´s family. I will always remember Mr. Olson as a remarkable teacher at Central High School. He made a point to talk to me about my education and offer guidance. I have never forgotten that day. I wish I had taken the time to tell him.

My condolences to the Olson family. Hugs.
Mr. Olson was my physics teacher at Central. I am truly grateful he was teacher. I can only imagine the amount of students he positively impacted but sharing my story because it was meaningful and long lasting.
In high school, I loved math and science but he brought physics to LIFE! Because of him, It´s one of those few classes that taught me perspective that carried on...still today. My kids laugh when I say, it´s physics! And I´d love to take their classes again with them.
Mr Olson also did something special for me. He NOTICED my appreciation of math and science. He linked me up with a summer job where I could explore Engineering. I think I was one of a few he did this. As a female, he gave me a springboard to my love of math and science and more importantly, a springboard to my studies and career. I graduated UW with chemical engineering and after 28 years in manufacturing, I still get giddy when Physics comes to life!
Once again, my condolences. He touched my life positively and I am grateful. He will be missed.
