Donald C. Padgett

Donald C. Padgett, age 83, of Ashburn, VA, passed away on October 21, 2025, after receiving comfort from the Adler Center for Caring. Don was born in Alexandria, VA on August 7, 1942, to Roy and Magaret Padgett. After graduating from Francis C. Hammond High School in 1960, he went to work for the CIA. Don had a successful 30-year career and progressed into senior management as a personnel officer. In retirement, he became an avid golfer and worked at various jobs with his wife Gwen at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Clifton, VA. for over 20 years. They shared many happy times on the golf course and Don was both a fixture and the resident jokester with the Sandbaggers. He enjoyed living his last years in Ashby Ponds, actively participating in the sporting progams making many friends along the way. Don also enjoyed the horse races and his yearly attempts to capture the elusive fantasy baseball trophy.

Don was a well-loved father, grandfather, brother, and friend and he will be deeply missed. Don's proudest moments came as a family man. He married his high school sweetheart Gwen Duncan on February 16, 1962 and they built a beautiful life together with two sons, five granddaughters and four great grandchildren. "Papaw" spoiled and adored his granddaughters serving as playmate, storyteller and cheerleader.

Don is survived by his two sons, Donald F. Padgett (Valerie) of Reston, VA and Michael R. Padgett (Teresa) of Orange County, VA; his two brothers, Keith and Kevin Padgett; his five granddaughters, Rachael Padgett, Sarah Padgett, Amanda Mothershead and her children George III, Jackson, and Jolene, Courtney Harcrow, and Haley Casao and her son Noah. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Margaret Padgett and his beloved wife Gwen Padgett.

A Memorial service will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on October 28 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Don's family asks that contributions be made to the Adler Center for Caring Legacy Fund, 24419 Millstream Drive, Aldie, VA 20150.
