Donald Edward Parrish, Sr. was a quiet gentle giant who graced this earth from August 29, 1952, until August 12, 2025. Born in Lake City, Florida, he spent his life as a lifelong resident of Union County, where he planted deep roots and crafted a legacy that many will fondly remember.
Don dedicated many years of his life working with Union County Solid Waste until he hung up his hat for retirement in 2017. The call of the land always pulled at his heartstrings, and he found joy in farming, where he nurtured both crops and cattle. He loved to hunt and the great outdoors - sharing those times with his sons and grandsons.
He leaves behind a legacy through the love of family. Don is survived by his children: Denise (Michael) Daniels, Andy (Melanie) Parrish, Donald (Morganne) Parrish, and Dustin Parrish. His grandchildren—Tyler (Abby) Parrish, Kirt (Sarah) Parrish, Lena (Breanna) Presnell, Wyatt Parrish, Tenli Parrish, Courtney Parrish, Brianna Parrish, Gracy Parrish, Lara Parrish, and Amara Parrish—will cherish fond memories of the lessons he imparted and the warmth he offered. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Waylon, Paisley, Ensley, and Shiloh. Don's siblings also survive him, Linda Scott, Charlotte (Ray) Townsend, and Bud Parrish.
He’s preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia Parrish, and his parents, G.W. Parrish and Mildred Croft Crawford.
A visitation will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm at Archer-Milton Funeral Home in Lake Butler, Florida. Friends and family are also invited to gather for a funeral service on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10am at Johnstown Baptist Church in Lake Butler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either UF Health Shands Cancer Center, ufhealth.org/giving or St. Jude’s Children Hospital, www.st.jude.org/donate. Archer-Milton Funeral Home is honored to once again serve the Parrish family. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com
