Donald R. Pound, 85, of White Oak Manor, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Donald was born on March 17, 1940, in Lexington County, and was the son of Frank Lewis Pound and Lillie Stroman Pound. He was married for many years to Shirley Ann Manuel Pound before her passing in 2020.
Donald attended Swansea schools, after which he served in the US Army in South Korea. He worked at Michelin for over 20 years. He was also a skilled woodworker and carpenter. Some of his happiest hours were spent on his tractor. Donald is survived by his son, Dwayne Pound; his grandson and his wife, Michael and Allison Pound; and his great-granddaughter, Adalynn. Besides his parents and his wife, Donald was preceded in death by his siblings, Jimmy Pound, Ann Pound, and Gloria Jean Pound.
A memorial service for Donald will be held at First Baptist Church of Gaston on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Brady Henderson officiating. The family will visit with friends on the day of the service.
