Donald Paul Ross, age 77, went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2026, while under hospice care in Port Orange, Florida.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Arlys (Day) Ross, his 2 sons, Donald Patrick (Sarah) Ross of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Richard Lawrence (Jennifer) Ross of Jonesboro, Texas. His sister Audrey (Ross) Marbough, of Van Wert Ohio; and brother John Ross of Saranac, Michigan. Eleven Grandchildren, 7 Great Grand Children and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ila (Inwood) Ross, brother Ron; and Grandson Noah.
Don was born on October 27, 1948 in Van Wert, Ohio. He graduated from Crestview High School, Convey, Ohio in 1967, attended Fort Wayne International Business School graduating with a Business Administration and Finance Degree. When the Lord called him into the ministry, he attended Huntington College, Huntington, Indiana graduating with a Masters of Divinity Degree. Don pastored United Brethren Churches in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan; retiring to Port Orange, Florida in 2019.
Don was a man of great integrity and a loving father who never met a stranger and had a wonderful sense of humor. Over his lifetime, he poured his heart and soul into every church he had been assigned to, and each person he met. Don was a living, walking Bible, he would lovingly meet you where you were and encouraged you to faith. He touched the lives of hundreds, if not thousands throughout his life, with his kindness. Don was best at understanding when to speak, when to listen, and when to just sit and cry with you. To know Don was to know that you were loved and cared for. His heart for missions was evident as he made trips within the United States, Jamaica, and Poland at least once a year since 1993.
A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Faith United Brethren in Christ Church at 4700 South Clyde Morris Blvd. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a dinner after the service in the fellowship hall. Pastor Chuck McKeown will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers it is requested that you make donations to Laurel Mission, 77 Cr-1507, Big Laurel, KY 40808 in Don’s name. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don’s life. The family would like to thank you for all the support that has already been given.
