Donald T. Ruta

Donald T. Ruta, 67, of Plainville, was called home to find his peace with God on Tuesday (Jan. 6, 2026) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in New Britain, he was the beloved son of Cynthia (Johnson) Ruta of Kensington and the late Raymond Ruta. He lived in Plainville since 1998. Don was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in New Britain, Class of 1976 and worked at several gas station and garages including Scott's Mobil in Farmington for 20 years, was a former employee of Anthony's of Plainville and Citgo of Southington, and was a manager at the Southington Drive in for over 20 years.

Don was a loving son, a devoted father, proud grandpa and a devoted friend to many. Besides his mother Cynthia, he leaves a daughter, Kara Ruta of Bristol; a brother, Robert "Bobby" Ruta and his wife Jennifer of Durham, NC; two sisters, Mary Fiske and her husband Craig of Laguna Neguel, CA, and Robin Rubin and her husband Jeffrey of Essex, MA; two grandsons, Austin Ruta and Christian Scott; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Tuesday (January 13) 11 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 AM at the Funeral Home.
