Surviving is the love of his life of 37 years, Pam Jacobson of Macomb; two daughters, Samantha (Tom Miller) Jacobson of Macomb, and Amanda Rutledge of Macomb; four grandchildren, Mylee Jacobson, Brooklyn Rutledge, Payten Rutledge, and Hope Rutledge; three brothers, Ron (Angie) Rutledge of Kentucky; Mark Rutledge, and Steve (Tammie) Rutledge both of Macomb; one sister, Angie (Kyle) Knapp of Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Lisa Rutledge of Macomb, and Kathleen (Steve) Jacobson-Schmidt; 2 grandchildren, Zander and Jersey Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were both his parents; and one brother, Jeff Rutledge.
Donald worked as a carpenter for many years as he enjoyed building houses. In his spare time, he enjoyed catfishing at Bernadotte, deer hunting, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
As per his wishes, there will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes and Crematory in Canton. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and burial of ashes will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 29, 2023 in Marietta Cemetery. A potluck dinner will be held at the 4-H Center located at 3022 West Jackson Street, Macomb, IL, immediately following services. Memorials may be made to the McDonough County Girl's Softball League.
