Donald Frederick Saari

Donald Frederick Saari (1932-2026) a resident of Commerce Twp., Michigan passed away peacefully at his home on Febuary 22, 2026 with his wife by his side. Don was born in Mohawk, Michigan on March 8, 1932 and moved to Detroit. Soon afterward, He met and fell in love with his future bride Yvonne Berlene Anderson.

Don joined the Army at the beginning of the Korean War and finished his basic traing in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He came home to be married on June 27, 1953. After their marriage, they moved to McKees Rocks, Pennslyvania where he served as a Radioman for the balance of his military career.

They returned again to Detroit where Don attended Meinsinger Art Institute and Center for Creative Studied. Being born with his Father's artistic talent, Don initially worked as a pattern maker in the auto industry, before becoming an Art Director for Sperry-Vickers Corp. for 27 years. He later founded Uni Concepts, LLC where he created many beautiful Statues, plaques and paintings.

Don and Yvonne celebrated 72 years of happy marriage together and were devout servants of the Lord. They were members of the Church of Our Savior for most of their lives and raised their four children with \Christian values.

Don leaves behind his wife, Yvonne, sister Dorothy (Saari) Robbins, sister Sandy (Saari) O'keefe, son Craig and his wife Jane Saari, son Paul and his wife Sharon Saarinen, son Michael Saari, and son Jon Wagner Saarinen, along with twelve grandchilren and many, many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Wagner and Eileen Saari, and his brother Kenneth Saari.

A private funeral sevice will be held.
