Donald A. Sabatke, 92, of Rochester, MN passed away May 7, 2025.
Donald Arthur Sabatke was born August 31, 1932 to Gertrude (Busitzky) Sabatke and Arthur Sabatke in a small farmhouse near Preston, MN. He graduated from Chosen Valley High School in Chatfield, MN. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years, including serving during the Korean conflict in 1951 and 1952. After being discharged from the service, he married Carol Johnson on July 2, 1955 at the Presbyterian Church in Rochester, MN. He worked at Rochester Dairy for ten years, then was employed by IBM for 25 years, retiring in 1991. Upon retirement, he worked at Mount Olive Lutheran Church and as an usher at Mayo Civic Center. He had been a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church for 60 years.
Don is survived by his wife Carol of nearly 70 years; children, Dennis (Karen) of Rochester, MN, Shari (Tim) Cain of Decatur, IL, and Gregory (Stefanie) of Hammond, WI; his brother, Kenneth (Marlene) Sabatke; grandchildren, Jeff (Cindy) Sabatke, Laurie (Jeremy) Grund, Abigail (fiancé Aaron) Jackson, Zachary Sabatke and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Mae (Sabatke) Allen and Phyllis (Sabatke) Quandt.

Don's celebration of life will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2830 18th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM with a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, MN. Memorials are preferred to Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Mayo Hospice or charity of donor's choice.
