Donald Carl Scharringhausen was born on June 2, 1928 in Des Moines, Illinois to Paul and Marinette Scharringhausen, and died on March11, 2023.

Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Spencer Scharringhausen and son, Douglas Paul Scharringhausen.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Diane Scharringhausen, his children, Donald Spencer Scharringhausen, Aaron DuMar, and Laura Eyhorn, his grandchildren, Schon Kuo, Timothy Gross, Nicola Scharringhausen, Douglas Scharringhausen, Emma Bullock, John Eyhorn, and Laura Anne DuMar, and his great grandchildren, Brooke Gross, Allie Gross, and Audrey Gross.

Don received his Bachelors in Journalism degree from the University of Chicago which also included an exchange program where he studied at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. After school he served his country in the Army as Lieutenant and artillery commander.

His career landed him at Texas Instruments where he worked in many marketing roles including leader of the consumer products division. He retired as Director Worldwide Marketing and Communication after 35 years of service.

After retirement he continued his service to the community including leading the development of an underprivileged children's recreation facility in Richardson, TX, and serving as president of the Kiwanis Club of Plano and Kiwanis Club of Fort Worth.

Don was an active sportsman. He enjoyed deer and quail hunting and fishing. He was always a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.

Don was a faithful Christian who attended church, even in his last days, attending First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth by webinar.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott Street, Houston, Texas .

The Rite of Committal will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
