Donald (Donnie) Gene Scheffler was born October 23, 1938 and was laid to rest on November 14, 2025. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Wesley Scheffler and Evelyn (Ortner) Scheffler-White-Schnell. He was married on June 26,1958 to Janice (Hoskins) Scheffler.
Donnie graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1956 and later attended one year at Oklahoma State University. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Janice (Hoskins) Scheffler, one sister Karen Hopmann (Jon), and three children Perry Scheffler (Anna), Jan Scheffler (Shelly), and Stacy Scheffler (Sharon).
He was blessed with seven Grandchildren, Dustin, Brandon (Tami), Emily (Travis), Shelbi (Brock), Shae, Daniel (Chenoa), Tanner (Jamie).
He was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Star (Ridge), Allie, Addie, Stetson, Benson, Ryan, and Brecken.
He was also blessed with two Great-Great Grandchildren Raiden, Aries, and one more on the way.
He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Donnie was a construction contractor and was the general contractor on construction of the Okeene Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Okeene, Oklahoma which was built in 1972. He was an avid farmer and was still active in his later years.
He loved motorcycles, camping, boating and traveling.
The family wants to thank Jerry Bernhardt, who became a very good friend to him in his later years and often came by to visit and talk about farming.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. in Okeene, Oklahoma. A graveside funeral service will take place Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cottonwood Cemetery in Hitchcock, Oklahoma.
