Roger Brun

Roger Yves Brun died peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 8, 2026. He was 90

years old. He was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, November 11, 1935, and came to the

United States as a teenager. He graduated from Oklahoma State University and worked as

a contractor, designing and overseeing the installation of commercial kitchens. Roger was

an active member of the community and served for many years as vice-president of the

Friends of the Patchogue-Medford Library. He was appreciated for his warmth,

compassion and genial personality. He visited schools, libraries and hospitals with his

therapy dog Beau. A numismatis, he developed a remarkable collection of coins and paper

money. He was an avid gardener, annually producing an array of flowers and vegetables.

Later in his life, he also took numerous classes as part of the Osher Lifelong Learning

Institute (OLLI) at Stony Brook University.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Genevieve Duperron. He is

survived by his devoted partner of 15 years, Linda Devin-Sheehan of Stony Brook, his son

and daughter-in-law, Thierry and Ebru Brun of Verona, New Jersey, and his two

granddaughters, Blanca and Ciel. His family was the most important part of his life; he

loved his family with all his heart.

A celebration of his life was held by his family on February 14.
