It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Jay Selby, who left us too soon on September 1, 2025, at the age of 64. Don was born on July 23, 1961, to Ernest & Irene (Laning) Selby, in Muskegon, Michigan, where he spent his life surrounded by family and friends who adored him.
A proud graduate of Mona Shores High School in 1979, Don dedicated his career as a machine operator with General Motors in the auto industry for many years. He found joy in his work but cherished his time with loved ones even more.
Don was a man of many passions. He had a fierce love for NASCAR, always cheering on his favorite drivers. When he wasn't watching the races, you could find him fishing, tending to his well-kept lawn, firing up the grill for delicious family meals, or diving into various home improvement projects. His family will fondly remember those weekends filled with laughter and love.
Don is survived by his wife, Jeannie Selby, and their two children, Joel (Steven) Selby and Cassie (Justin) Vredevoogd. He was the proud grandfather of Emaline, Chloe, and Fiona Vredevoogd. He also leaves behind his siblings: Norma (Tom) Snider, Frank (Barb) Selby, Ron Selby, Rob Selby, Linda (Charlie) Johnson, and Joann (Rich) Hagye; and best friends, Carl Schotts and Mike Bectel all of whom will miss him dearly. Don was preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Irene (Laning) Selby and his brother Dave Selby.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 11, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to join us as we honor Don's life and share our favorite memories of him.
Though he may have left this world, Don's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. We will remember him not just for his gentle nature and big heart but also for the joy he brought into our lives. Rest in peace, Don. You will be missed more than words can express.
